Who is Team Smiley? In 2018, the Smiley Campaign, led by Pastor Rawiri Love (Smiley) launched the Smiley Mural, on the side of a wall in a busy street in Kaikohe. The Smiley Mural is a joint project with local artist Dallon August. The Smiley image is the only one in the world with a Ta Moko, the art of Māori tattoo – is a unique expression of cultural heritage and identity. The multiple smiley faces in the mural represent whanaungatanga (relationships). Smiley: "It talks about how important it is to stick together and embrace each other. When you think of friendliness you think of a smile. A smile is everything, it's hard to be depressed when you are next to the wall. I hear stories of a lady who brings her mokos [grandchildren] to the wall because they love it."
We aim to promote Hip Hop, American Football, and the Smiliest Communities in and from New Zealand so that our beautiful country will inspire the world in Enterprise, Education, and Community Development. To achieve this we must ensure that all people, especially our young, live in supportive, safe, and thriving communities.
Who is I AM HOPE? Team Smiley Cause Video features an interview with Mike King: I Am Hope Founder, Ambassador, and Trustee.
Our Mission: I AM HOPE aims to promote positive attitudinal societal change around mental health throughout New Zealand, and fund private care and counselling for young people stuck-in-the-mud on waiting lists. We offer hope and a voice to young people in our country through various projects including school tours, practical courses such as a barber and barista course, allowing people to share their own journeys through our podcast series 'HopeCast' and much more. https://www.iamhope.org.nz/OurPeople/Mike-King
